Types of Braces

Metal braces have become much smaller since the earlier days of orthodontics. This smaller sized  braces facilitate hygiene and minimize patient discomfort from irritation. The “space-age” nickel titanium wires placed in the braces are super-elastic and allow for easier alignment of crowded teeth with less discomfort.

The metal braces which is used in our clinic is PREADJUSTED EDGEWISE APPLIANCE  (PEA) (Straight-wire appliance or popularly called as American Technique). It is a contemporary & most widely used appliance in which predictable good results are achieved. This appliance has the advantage of well contoured edges (with less sharp ends hurting to the patients as in certain older generation systems) & when combined with the recent generation adhesives, breakages of the orthodontic appliances are reduced to the lowest.

For those patients who like to fashionably show off their braces, we offer a full colour selection at no additional cost. Colours range from the traditional spectrum to pastel, jelly and even glow-in-the–dark. You can choose colours to show your school spirit or support your favourite sports team, to celebrate an upcoming holiday, or just pick any artistic creation of your choice to show off your beautiful smile. Furthermore, your colours can be changed at every appointment visit (5-8 weeks), so you’re not stuck wearing the same colour for the entire treatment. Again, the coloured braces are Preadjusted Edgewise appliances with all its advantages along with the display of colourfulness.

For those patients who prefer their braces to be less conspicuous, we offer ceramic braces. The ceramic braces are made of a glass type material and do not stain like the plastic braces of past years. Most patients can be treated just as well with the ceramic braces as they can with the metal braces. The basic configuration built in clear braces used in our clinic is the same contemporary Preadjusted Edgewise appliance with all its features & excellent look/aesthetics.

Clear aligners are a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable appliances to straighten your teeth. You can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are more easily accomplished than with braces. The aligners have no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. Though many patients have been thrilled with their aligner results, not all bite types can be corrected with this form of treatment. An initial consultation will determine if you are a candidate for clear aligner treatment
